What No One Tells You About Penile Enlargement
by Alexander Canone

Penile enlargement surgery or phalloplasty is a surgical procedure that is gaining in popularity. Approximately 250,000 men across the globe have undergone this surgery and of these, half have been performed in the United States. Penile enlargement surgery in its traditional form can be one of two procedures- that of increasing the length or width of the penis. Some men decide to have both procedures but they are usually not performed at the same time due to the fact that risks and complications are greater when they are performed at the same time. Carefully weigh the pros and cons before you move forward with this surgery.

The first type of surgery is used to increase the length of the penis. In this case the plastic surgeon makes an incision at the penis' base and then carefully snips the ligament that connects the penis to the pubic bone. What this accomplishes is that the part of the penis that is inside of the body is able to fall forward and come out of the body and this gives the penis the appearance of greater length. In general the patient ends up with anywhere from an extra inch and up to two and a half and sometimes even three inches.

The second surgical procedure is that of widening the penis, which means that girth is increased in the penis. To do penis widening surgery, a filler material such as fat from the patient's own body or else a graft made up of human collagen tissue, that comes from purified cadaver tissue is placed under the skin of the penis and this is able to then increase the width of the penis by approximately 30 percent.

Penis lengthening surgery tends to be permanent as it is a simpler procedure than is penis-widening procedure. Unfortunately the latter procedure often does not yield permanent results. If the liposuction method for penile widening issued it is likely that the results will only remain in place for a year or more. On the other hand the Allograft Dermal Matrix Graft often does have more permanent results and more patients report satisfaction with this type of graft.

Penile fracture.

Penis widening is considered to be more important than the lengthening of the penis when it comes to sexual relations. The reason for this is that a penis that is very long can cause discomfort to a woman during intercourse because it bumps against the uterus when the man thrusts. On the other hand women have more nerve endings in the lower portion of their vagina and on the sides of the vaginal walls and a wider, thicker penis can increase the sensations while thrusting and therefore can increase the sexual pleasure a man experiences. Be aware that this can be very expensive surgery and it is often not covered by health insurance. Make sure if you decide to have this surgery that you have it for the right reasons.
