How to deal with difficult people

Being around people who love you and care about you is one of the best things life has to offer. However, when you're around people that are difficult and negative, it may put a damper on your life. Here are ways to avoid situations that you might encounter when dealing with a difficult person.

• Try to avoid topics that include personal issues. Many times a difficult person will look at all the negatives first, and disregard the positives.
• When you deal with difficult people, don't try to change them into the person you want them to be. Trying to change them will only invite criticism, making the situation worst, and it may cause you to become a difficult person as well.
• Try to look at all the positive qualities the person has in themselves. The other person will feel appreciated, which makes the time spent more enjoyable.
• Don't let your guard down when looking at all the positives. Don't let them know what's going on in your personal life, later on they may use it against you in a negative way.
• Know when to hang around that difficult person. If you are in a bad mood, don't hang out with a difficult person. When they start getting on your nerves, the situation will only get worst.
• Don't put all the blame on the difficult person when you two are in an argument. It may be a conflict of different personalities that makes the relationship difficult
• Keep up your sense of humor. It's easy to hang around negative people when your attitude is positive.

Just remember that when you're with a difficult person, it's very easy to get angry and frustrated. But if you follow these simple steps, you can deal with a difficult person more effectively, and your time spent with them won't be a waste.
